Prep Your Skin! – Events, Photoshoots etc


Hello! I planned to post some makeup looks these past weeks, but I couldn’t… because I burned my forehead and only now it starts to heal… And I didn’t want to put makeup on an open wound! Yay for experimenting before the wedding. *sarcasm*

Instead, I will talk about why is it important to prep your skin before an event (party, wedding etc), photoshoot, daily basis, and how to do it.

First of all, you have to realize that no matter how good is the makeup artist, or how good and luxurious are the products, if your skin is flaky, (severely) dehydrated and overall in a bad condition, the effect will not be as good as if you would take care of you skin beforehand.

Scrub your skin at least twice a week! I’m sure you heard it a lot, but it does make a difference. Especially before an event, when you want to look flawless. The night before the photoshoot or the event, give your skin a good scrub. Everything will go on smoothly! Moisturizer, foundation, concealer, you name it!

Drink water! You’re 60% made of water. Pretty self-explanatory.

Moisturize! Nobody can magically bring moisture into your skin and make it look nourished and healthy if you don’t take care of it on a daily basis. If you don’t like using creams for various reasons, use some healthy alternatives like oils, organic butters. (Shea butter, cacao butter etc)

Cleanse and tone daily! You want to keep your skin clean. So cleanse, morning and evening, to remove any makeup, dirt, bacteria and tone to give back elasticity and.. tone your skin.

Give yourself a mask that will deep clean and unclog your pores at least once a week! Blackheads, pimples, bumps and lumps are a mess. And so annoying. Use masks that contain salicylic acid and other acids of that type to deep clean your skin.

Sleep! Make sure you sleep enough, especially before a big event. When you sleep, your skin renews itself, heals itself. I’m sure you’ve noticed that after a good sleep, your skin looks more luminous, glowy, fresh, young.

Oh, and make sure you don’t experiment right before an important day in your life! Like I did and burned my forehead. :))) Don’t do that!

And, from time to time, give yourself a skin detox.

    1. Try drinking warm lemon water with a teaspoon of honey added to it. I find it makes a difference in the overall body functions. 😀
